Product Description

Disc brake axle
Disc brakes are brake systems that use metal blocks instead of drums. Disc brakes have flat brake shoes on both sides of the brake disc. When the oil pressure from the brake master cylinder is sent to the branch cylinder, the brake shoes are clamped towards the brake disc to achieve a tight braking effect. Disc brakes are generally used on the front wheels. Some high-end cars are equipped with four-wheel disc brakes. The advantages are sensitive action, good heat dissipation, no need to adjust the brake clearance, and easy maintenance.
 
Advantage
1. Disc brakes have better heat dissipation than drum brakes, and they are less likely to cause brake fading and brake failure when the brakes are continuously applied.
2. The change in size of the brake disc after being heated does not increase the stroke of the brake pedal.
3. The disc brake system responds quickly and can perform high-frequency braking actions, so it is more in line with the needs of the ABS system.
4. Disc brakes do not have the automatic braking function of drum brakes, so the braking force of the left and right wheels is relatively average.
5. Because the brake disc has better drainage, it can reduce brake failure caused by water or sediment.
6. Compared with drum brakes, disc brakes have a simple structure and are easy to maintain.
Shortcoming
1. Because there is no automatic braking function of drum brakes, the braking force of disc brakes is lower than that of drum brakes.
2. The friction area between the disc brake pad and the brake disc is smaller than that of the drum brake, so the braking force is also smaller.
3. In order to improve the above-mentioned shortcomings of disc brakes, greater pedaling force or hydraulic pressure is required. Therefore, it is necessary to use a brake disc with a larger diameter or increase the oil pressure of the brake system to increase the braking power.
4. The handbrake device is not easy to install. Some models with rear disc brakes are equipped with a set of drum brake handbrake mechanisms for this purpose.
5. The brake pads are subject to greater wear, so the frequency of replacement may be higher.
